NWS: Tornado touched down in Mathews

MATHEWS, VA. (WAVY) - A report from the National Weather Service says that a tornado touched down in Mathews County Friday night.

The report says that the damage sustained to the Davis Road Marina,? two trailers that were knocked off their foundations, and several trees is consistent with an EF0 tornado, which can contain wind speeds between 70 and 80 mph.????

According to reports the tornado began at White Cemetery around 6:25 p.m. and moved east-northeast by the Davis Road Marina and ended on Route 14 just north of Bavon around 6:30 p.m..

Several buildings had minor roof damage in the area and an older building by the marina had damage to a wall. Two trees were downed and several other trees had branches and limbs broken off, according to the report.?

There were no injuries reported as a result of the tornado.
