Self Improvement With Time Management Tips and Tools ...

Do you feel like you could accomplish so much more in life, if only you could better manage your time? Some people seem to be born organized, efficiently going through their day checking off one task before moving on to the next. Other people are more easily distracted and constantly struggle with time management. If your attempts at?self improvement?in this area always seem to fail, here are a few tips and some helpful products to improve your chances of success.

Don?t try to implement all of these strategies at once. It?s best to focus on just one at a time to increase the likelihood that you?ll follow through and see some improvement. After a few weeks, you can move on to a new strategy.

Keep a Journal.?Write down everything you do throughout the day, and how long it takes. This might seem more time consuming at first, but the insight you?ll gain can help you realize exactly where all of your time is going. This is a great first step to understanding where you?re at so that you can map out a plan to get where you want to be.

Plan Your Day.?If time seems to get away from you, maybe it?s because without a plan outlined for the day, you have trouble deciding what to do. Write a to-do list for each day, and create a daily and weekly schedule, even if it has to be flexible to adapt to the unexpected.

Learn to Say No.?Some people seem to have time management issues because they take on too many responsibilities. If you say yes to everything, you?ll never be able to fit it all in. Make a commitment to yourself that you won?t agree to take on any projects without taking a day to think it over first. Then decide if you can realistically fit it into your schedule.

Delegate.?Are you trying to ?do it all? yourself? Some people just have trouble letting go of any task. But your day will quickly fill up if you do things that could be completed by someone else. Maybe they won?t do it exactly the way you would, but is that so terrible? Try to pick one item on your to-do list that you could delegate to someone else.

Break Big Projects Into Smaller Pieces.?Does an overwhelming task have you paralyzed so that you?re not doing anything at all? Try to chop it up into small, manageable chunks that you can work on step by step until the whole thing is completed.

Don?t Sacrifice Sleep.?You might feel like staying up late will help you get more accomplished in a day, but skimping on sleep will make you less efficient during your waking hours. When you?re tired, it?s harder to concentrate and make good decisions. When you?re not mentally sharp, everything takes longer and you?re more prone to make mistakes that will cost you extra time to correct.

There are a number of?products?on the market to help you better manage your time. Just as different strategies help different people, it?s important to choose a tool that works for you.

The MotivAider Personal Achievement Tool is an easy-to-use behavior modification device that empowers you to make the changes you want in your life. It works inconspicuously and automatically to keep you focused on the task at hand, making it a great tool for improving your concentration and time management skills. The MotivAider periodically gives off a gentle vibration as a reminder to stay focused on your goal.

If you would like further strategies to help you get control of your time, check out the e-book?Following Through: a Revolutionary New Model For Finishing Whatever You Start.?This book by the inventor of the MotivAider, Dr. Steve Levinson, explains why we so often fail to follow through on our good intentions, and provides several creative strategies to help you transform your goals into action.

For a more comprehensive understanding of how your mind works the way it does, read the book?Mind Wide Open: Your Brain and the Neuroscience of Everyday Life. Author Steven Johnson explains
how recent theories in neuroscience impact the way we think about thinking. Understanding more about the brain and how your thought processes work can help you better implement the changes you are trying to make.

Whatever you do, stick with it and don?t give up. With the right strategies and tools, you can take control of your day and learn to manage your time more effectively.
