Recognize The Signs Your Pets Give You | Love ... - GPS Dog Collar

Pets, just like their human owners or masters, use body language in their own way, and have their own way of expressing it to the people who own them. Learning to read their body language can help you understand what they want, what they like, and what they don?t.

You can tell if your cat or dog is happy or not by looking at their ears. There are several pet books that go into great depth about this, but when ears are flattened behind an animal?s head, this usually means it is mad at something. Erect ears are a sign of alertness ? they are listening intently to a noise.

Your pet?s tail will also tell you a lot about their mood. Cats? tails tend to wag when they are angry. Many experts say that a dog wags its tail when it is confused, but it also shows friendliness. Most of us know that dogs with tails between their legs are afraid of something, but when a cat stretches and tries to look larger than it is, this would mean the same.

By taking note of the two tips discussed above and observing many others, you can have a better understanding of what makes your pets tick. One other way you can gauge your pet?s reaction is if you are playing with them ? they will manifest it in different ways through their body before they become vocal about it by barking or meowing, for instance. Pets aren?t like us ? they do not have a language we can verbally understand ? but since they don?t, they use their bodies to do the talking before taking the next steps.

And once we have mastered the art of understanding pets? body language, try teaching this to your kids if you have. For instance, a small child may enjoy playing tug-o-war with the pet dog, but if the dog raises its ears, that might mean it?s time to stop because the dog has had enough.

Pets are animals, and although they may not be wild, they have the same instincts and behaviors they would have in the wild ? just toned down a bit. You can avoid getting on the wrong side of your pet?s moods by understanding their moods. Just as you can learn the different barks your dog has ? in response to a dog walking in the street, a stranger at the gate or a friend ? you can learn to read the signs their body language gives you. Just like sensing when the people you love are in a foul mood, you should do the same with your pets so as not to make it worse. Learning the body language of your pets helps you treat them better too.
