CLINTON, Ky. ? It's a sad day in a Hickman County community.
There is little left of the Hickman County Historical and Genealogical Society building.? Workers demolished the remaining part of the structure that was left after part of it collapsed earlier in the week.
Ivan Potter, president of the historical society, told the Hickman County Times they were able to save about 90 percent of the written records.? Among those lost included several maps, some of which date back to the Civil War.? The society also lost some information on the Trail of Tears.
In addition to those items, four computers, three photocopiers and some antique furniture were also destroyed.
Society members moved surviving items to a secure, temperature-controlled building.
