Earlier today I was browsing Ars Technica's Tuesday Dealmaster, run by LogicBuy, and a sale on the bottom piqued my interest. It listed LG's 84-inch 4k TV that Brent once called an "eyegasm" for $8000 less then the MSRP. Sure, it was still $12000, but that's still sick savings?over $5000 less than Amazon. But when I looked into the deal a little more, it seemed like there was a cabal of very shady sites, all with the same TV for the same too-low price, often with the word "TV" in the URL.

I decided not to share the deal; the chance that it's a scam is just too high. The lesson here is before you ever purchase something online?especially if it's a huge ticket item?do your due diligence and search for the store. You might find some very scary warning signs from sites like BBB and ResellerRatings.
